Rhonda Smith Cofer, aged 64, from Loganville, GA, peacefully passed away on December 26th, 2023.
Rhonda, originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas, spent her formative years in Tucker, GA. She was an active member of the Tucker High School gymnastics team, excelling particularly on the uneven bars. Additionally, her love for horses was evident from a young age, and she pursued this passion with remarkable dedication. After completing high school, Rhonda graduated from Arkansas State University before returning to Georgia. It was there that she began a relationship with Chip, which blossomed into a 37-year-long marriage.
Chip and Rhonda settled on a farm in Loganville, where Rhonda indulged her deep affection for animals, excluding bats. She possessed a natural talent for caring for her diverse menagerie of animals and welcomed both animals and people into her care. Rhonda was also known for her ability to support individuals through emotional challenges, demonstrating kindness, unconditional love, and selflessness to all she encountered. Over the years, Rhonda developed a deep admiration for Stevie Nicks, culminating in her attendance at a memorable concert in October 2022. She cherished the countless concerts she shared with Chip throughout their time together.
From 2003 to 2009, Rhonda homeschooled her children. In 2005, the family began raising Gypsy Vanner Horses, and by 2010, Rhonda was competing in Saddle Seat events with her cherished Friesian horses. Achieving the title of number 1 in the Southeast in 2014 was a moment of immense pride for her. However, her most cherished role was that of "Grandma Peacock" or "Mama Peacock," adoring her granddaughter, Juniper, and relishing her role as a grandmother.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Smith, and is survived by her husband, Chip Cofer; her mother, Betty Smith, of Jonesboro, AR; her brother, Terry Smith (Fonda), of Weiner, AR; her two children, Katie (Jake) and Charlie; her granddaughter, Juniper Cofer; her cousin, Kakki Senteney, of Tucker, GA; numerous nieces and nephews across Arkansas and Georgia; and her beloved horses of Belle-Reid Farm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to go to the Lame2Fame Horse Rescue Organization at https://www.lame2fame.org/ or to Friends of Disabled Adults and Children at https://fodac.org/.

"I would like to thank my husband, Chip. Without him, none of this would have happened. Thanks for making me the "star of your story". I love you and you are still the "rhythm of my heart"!
